Chesapeake Gallery

The Chesapeake Gallery at Harford Community College features contemporary art by emerging and established artists as well as HCC faculty and students.

Located in the Student Center, the Chesapeake Gallery is the only exhibition space of its kind between Baltimore and Newark. It serves as a vital educational link between the community and the practice of art and design in the region.

"Out of Brooklyn" by Carol Radsprecher
September 27 - November 16, 2018

Carol Radsprecher was born and currently lives in Brooklyn, NY. She has a BFA and MFA in painting from Hunter College, CUNY. In addition to several solo exhibitions, her work has been in numerous group shows and is in various private collections. Reproductions of her work have also been published in print and in online publications. Her current studio is located in Manhattan, NY.

Radsprecher has painted for decades and finds it a meaningful medium. Some ten or so years ago, she “discovered” the wonders of Photoshop, taught herself what she needed to know in order to draw and “paint” with it, and finds it to be a medium very suited to her need to work fast, make and save many editions of an image as it evolves—and, very important, no physical storage is required!

Her style is a combination of figuration and abstraction. The content is autobiographical, but obliquely so. In much of her work, there are distortions of the human figure, especially the female figure, as that is the first landscape we see as we enter the world. The prints are in narrative series, though only one image in each series is represented here.

Stop by the Chesapeake Gallery today to see these great works in person!
