After You've Applied

Welcome to Harford!

COVID-19 Updates:

  • Click on the chat button in the bottom right-hand corner of this page to speak with a member of Admissions staff during our business hours: 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM, Mondays and Thursdays and 8:30 to 4:30 PM, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
  • You can reach an Admissions representative via phone during the business hours noted above by calling 443-412-2109 and leaving a voice message. We will return your call via phone typically within five business hours, meaning messages left at the end of a business day might be returned the next business day.
  • If you need additional assistance and wish to speak to a representative, please contact Patrick Elliott, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management, at 443-412-2345 during business hours. We will make every attempt to answer calls during working hours and, if not, promptly return your call.
  • Please note that acceptance letters will be emailed to the personal email address you provided in your application.
  • Admissions representatives will not have access to items that are mailed to the college. Please submit transcripts and test scores electronically to admissions@harford.edu

Need Placement Testing?

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Test Center is offering multiple options for placement testing for writing, reading, and math. Please read this information carefully.

The college offers Accuplacer tests online (through Microsoft Teams) and onsite (at the Test Center).

  • For Onsite Accuplacer at the Test Center, set an appointment for testing via the Onsite Accuplacer Appointment Request. Students will need to complete a health screening process before testing.
  • For Online Accuplacer, set an appointment for testing via the Online Accuplacer Appointment Request. Students will need MS Teams desktop app, computer with audio and video, and internet. If you need to test sooner or you cannot find available appointments for online Accuplacer, please use this Accuplacer form to sign up for testing and we will call you to set a testing appointment.

Other Options for Placement Testing:

HCC is also offering alternative placement testing opportunities in English and Math via Blackboard that are ready when you are! Blackboard placement tests are available 24/7, no appointment required. Get your scores within 2-3 business days and get signed up for classes.

You will need a laptop or desktop computer with internet. You will also need access to Blackboard with your HCC OwlMail portal login (username and password). Webcams and MS Teams are not needed for Blackboard placement testing.

To access these tests, follow the steps in How to Access HCC's Placement Testing in Blackboard.

  • Writing = English Readiness Writing
  • Reading = English Readiness Reading
  • Math = Alternate for Math Accuplacer

After testing, contact Admissions (admissions@harford.edu) to register for classes.

Blackboard placement tests can only be taken ONCE. If you do not get preferred scores in these assessments, then you can take Accuplacer tests.

Prospective Nursing Students

The Nursing program is a screened major and requires additional prerequisites and a separate application.
